Founded in 1936, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is a popular attraction. Even if you haven’t heard of this museum, that doesn’t change the worth of it. Here’s why you should visit!
Yes, the cost to get in is zero!
Admission to the permanent collection galleries is always free. That’s basically the whole museum. Although, if you want to see special or new exhibits and programs, the price varies. If you choose to be a member, you get into all exhibitions for free, and get discounts on programs.
The Art is Beautiful
Ranging from American Art, to South Asian Art, all of it is alluring. An exhibit I recommend going to is Early 20th-Century European Art. The paintings are beautifully detailed and just downright gorgeous. But so are other paintings and statues in other exhibits too, like in the African Art exhibit.
They offer teen/youth programs
From teen studios to teen talents, the VMFA has it all to offer. An example is Teen Stylin’. This program offers creative fashion designs with the principles of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Student designers, from grades 6-12, will select a masterwork from the museum’s permanent collection and use their creative construction to create wearable works of art.
They Offer Tours
If you have troubles understanding the “bigger picture,” then there are tour guides available. They’re all very friendly and open to any questions there are. There’s several different tours available from walk ins, to audio tours and all of them are very helpful.
Escape Virtual Reality
Video games are something you could easily slip into and become obsessed with. Instead, escape into an artistic and cultural reality where it’s healthier and could help with culture awareness.
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is a beautiful and wonderful place and is definitely worth your time. It’s also a great date idea, so invite a friend and visit soon!
