On Saturday, November 19, at 9:00 AM, the thirteenth annual Turkey Trot will be taking place, starting at the East West Pavilion in Woodlake, Midlothian.
The Turkey Trot is a 5K race, timed only in the first hour. Prizes will be awarded for the overall male and female times.
The Turkey Trot is an annual race to benefit families in the Midlothian community. The proceeds of the 2016 race benefit the Beacon Tree Foundation, in memory of Logan Neale, who was an avid runner in the Woodlake community and passed away near his Woodlake home in July. He was a runner for the Cosby track team and participated in many national competitions, using running as a positive way to combat his depression. The Beacon Tree Foundation supports Midlothian families that have children struggling with mental illness and drug abuse.
This race has been a staple in the Midlothian community for 13 years, with many people looking forward to it as a way of motivating themselves to get back in shape, a way of having fun, and giving back to the community.
Kids under the age of 5 are able to participate for free, though that does not include the price of a t-shirt. Registrations can be made online at woodlakeonline.com, or can be made at the Woodlake AFC front desk.
So prepare for the Turkey Trot with your family and friends— it’ll be a lot of fun for a great cause!
