Next Monday, May 23, 2016, Cosby will hold its 10th Annual Memorial Day Military Tribute Assembly to honor our military heroes. This year, we are excited to have Erik Sabiston, author of Dustoff 7-3: Saving Lives Under Fire in Afghanistan, participate in the assembly. Dustoff 7-3 tells the true story of four unlikely heroes in the rugged mountains of Afghanistan, where medics are forced to descend on wires to reach the wounded and helicopter pilots must fight wind, weather, and enemy fire to pluck casualties from some of the world’s most difficult combat arenas. More information about the book can be found at

Sabiston will also hold an event at the Chesterfield Towne Center Barnes and Noble on Sunday May 22, 2016 to help the Cosby English Department celebrate our annual Book Fair which runs from now until June 3rd. Use the Bookfair ID# 11855004 to shop in the store and online.

Some praise for Dustoff 7-3:

“I had a hard time with Dustoff 7-3 from the moment I picked it up. Not because of prose or composition, but because the carefully crafted words took me back to a place and time I miss every day. I used to wonder who those angels were that flew into our most hellish moments in combat, those men and women who would risk everything to save us or at least return our dead. After reading Dustoff 7-3, now I know.” – MAJ (Ret.) Rusty Bradley – Author of Lions of Kandahar

“A gripping and heart-pounding tale of duty, and near death for the chopper crew, Dustoff 7-3 represents a war story of gallantry. A one sitting read.” – Jay StraffordRichmond Times Dispatch
