Millions of people from around the world visit many cities in the country year round like New York and Chicago. However, there are also many smaller cities that do not get the recognition they deserve, and one of them is right in our own state.

Richmond truly does not receive enough credit for all that it offers considering its size. No matter what time of the year there is always something exciting to do, and there are many different events and places to go that should please anyone!

For the history lovers there is plenty to experience, especially considering the city of Richmond is a historic city alone. For starters there is the Virginia War Memorial that pays tribute to soldiers from Virginia. As for people that enjoy literature, they can experience the Edgar Allan Poe Museum right in Richmond as well. If it is nice outside, then it is a perfect opportunity to walk up and down Monument Avenue and look at statues that pay tribute to historic figures from Virginia.

Richmond is also filled with tons of recreational activities, as well as sports teams that are great to experience, especially for the athletes of the group. This to do list includes going to college or professional sporting events, such as a VCU basketball games or a Flying Squirrels baseball game. The James River also offers people the opportunity to go rafting.

Richmond also offers many festivals year round that should also please a large variety of people. In May when the weather begins to warm up is the time to go to RiverRock. RiverRock is a festival that offers tons of activities for everyone, such as paddle boarding, kayaking, and at the end of the day there is a concert that is great for all ages.

No matter who you are Richmond, Virginia offers something for anybody any time of the year.
