Best Band in the Nation

Keara Meeley

Although the title of “Best Band in the Nation” may be an opinion, Cosby’s band has a reputation of accomplishments. The Titan band recently received straight superior ratings at the state concert band assessment. The marching band also earned a superior rating at their state assessment in the fall, making this their seventh consecutive Virginia Honor Band title. It is also their 10th consecutive concert assessment year earning a superior rating.

The school year is almost over, but the band isn’t done yet. On May 20th at 7PM, the Titan band will perform at the Spring Concert, featuring music from Star Wars and a T-Bone Concerto. Bruce Patterson will also be performing with the army band and the concert will close with a Patriotic Finale. Tickets are $7. The band will also perform on May 24 at 7PM at Jazz Night in the Forum at 7:00. Tickets are $7.

Interested in performing, yet lacking musical talent? Join Color Guard. During football season, Color Guard is an essential part of the musical interpretation of the show. The Guard uses props and movement, to express the music created by the marching band. Guard tryouts are May 2nd through May 6, from 2PM to 3:30PM.
